FLORA & FAUNA

CAPACITY
A maximum of 12 people with a maximum of 8 bicycles
and/or a few wheelchairs or prams.
We try to offer a pleasant sailing trip to as many people as possible.
We therefore ask you to take into account that it can be very busy (especially on beautiful cycling days).
Partly because large bicycle bags are sometimes taken on board, the boat is fully occupied faster than desired. If the bags can be removed from the bicycle, we can take more people and bicycles with us. As a result, we hope to have to use "FULL = FULL" less often.
The skipper has the last word on this at all times.
DOGS
In principle, dogs are allowed on board.
- Short on a leash, or on the feet, no sniffing around other people
- No barking so as not to disturb the tranquility of nature and fauna
- A dog costs the same as a child
ATTENTION: Dogs must be kept on a leash on the Hollandse Kade!
Have fun on board!

ABOUT THE ZONNEVEER
- The Zonneveer Nieuwkoop Foundation operates the ferry service for cyclists and pedestrians in the summer on part of the Nieuwkoopse Plassen (lakes of Nieuwkoop) between the Noorden village center and the Hollandsekade near De Meije.
- The Foundation is completely independent and is run by more than 10 volunteers, who take turns as skippers.
- The route from Noorden takes 45 minutes, the return journey takes just under an hour. Along the way, the skipper will tell you some things about the nature reserve that has Natura 2000 status. The management of the Nieuwkoopse Plassen area is in the hands of Natuurmonumenten (in Dutch).
- Along the way you can enjoy the flora and fauna. A wide variety of plants, birds and even foxes and deer can be spotted. A very relaxing experience for many.
- The ferry fee is very low because we keep everything in our own hands and carry out everything ourselves. This means we are also completely financially independent.
- Donations are of course always welcome to our account NL47 RABO 0167 8243 41 in the name of Stichting Zonneveer Nieuwkoop.
- Every year we transport more than 2,500 passengers who are always pleasantly surprised by the crossing.
MAP
SAILING ROUTES AND BOARDING POINTS
The route of the Zonneveer is included in the national bicycle junction network.
Junction 83 is not quite at the position of the boarding point of the Zonneveer; in reality the cycle route runs over the Hogedijk.
The boarding point in the Meije is located between junction 22 and 57; on a dike that is prohibited for motorized traffic.
On this map, the red markings (Zv) indicate exactly where the boarding points are located.
The red route is sailed if you depart from Noorden; the green route from the Meije.

CONSTRUCTION
The current boat was built by the skippers themselves and put into service in 2013. We are very satisfied with the boat and have been able to sail with it successfully for years.
The nautical qualities of the boat are excellent, and it is easy and comfortable for the skipper to steer the boat. The passengers have attractive seats with cushions at their disposal and the bicycles can be placed nicely against the railing.
The result is a record interest in our ferry service, several times we have to send people to the other boarding point, in the hope that there will be enough room on the return trip. We keep hoping for a nice summer with a lot of interest.
